Trust is the one thing you need and it’s the one thing you can’t buy.

Hucksters and used car salesmen haven't ruined your reputation - you have every time you make promises you don't keep (or failed to make promises altogether).

Flailing and failing nonprofits haven’t ruined your chance to accomplish your mission - you have every time you believed you were entitled to being trusted. Every time you didn’t give those who give the credit for changing lives and the world, you violated their trust.

But every time you kept your word when you promised: "We're here for you" or "This is only possible because of you" - you were fulfilling the minimum required by your claim when you said, "Thank you!" (It's just the start, not the finish line.)
