If we only write down someone else's ideas that's called 'taking notes' and this means we are capturing thoughts and words generated (or shared) by another for our benefit.
But they're not 'ours' until we do something with them... like writing them down for ourselves. But this is not journaling - this is the demeaning habit of recording what someone else thinks is important - so important that we want to capture it for ourselves. Do people in the age of journaling ever take notes? It's becoming very, very rare - even in educational circles today. Comments are closed.
