Instead of the silos of operations and marketing, try building your marketing story into your design - into your mission statement - into your Why? - into your empathetic concern for those who pay the bills.
Insist that everything your organization does, offers, sells, or appeals for include the creation, mission and evaluating the success of what everyone’s doing.
A great invention that doesn’t solve a problem by design is not a great invention.
A great mission for your nonprofit that doesn’t solve a problem for those who you want to support it is not a great mission. (And, it will fail those who pretend to serve!)
If we create marketing in our design - they will never be silos - never be the problem they are for so many of us struggle to solve every day.
Better by design is marketing by design.
So don’t wait to create your message until you’ve figured out your product or service or mission. By then it may be too late.
