In our pursuit of meaning and identity there's nothing more popular (and proud) than the motto: learn to say no.
Saying no to requests, opportunities, conversations, meetings, appointments makes us appear as too busy, too important, too focused on our real goals to be interrupted. Saying no is not just self-care, it's easily selfish and narcissistic... turning the center of the bigger world into our live, our schedule, our goals. It's a flex. Being available sends the signal that you're not special because you're not busy enough to ignore others in favor of your more important goals. No apologies necessary (and busy people who are simply busy to feel important are the first to apologize for being so busy... so important). Comments are closed.
