Need Fatigue

It's real - need fatigue - our weariness with the overwhelming, persistent, unchanging and unchangeable desperate needs of so, so many of our world's problems.

Problems too big will soon be ignored - we'll become immune to even the gravest problems and evils.

Problems too far removed from our lives won't inspire sustainable community - unless that distance is closed, we'll consider them irrelevant.

And problems unsolved or unsolvable will never inspire action - just anger or apathy.

And the emotional toll need fatigue takes crushes also-rans - organizations without a plan for success and the ability to show and tell what success looks like.

But if we can show success - intimately linking the lives of stakeholders as mutual beneficiaries with those in need - and sustainability with a sunset (or at least sunsets for this or that person) - then we have a chance to avoid need fatigue and discover a new future.
