Messaging is just that - words telling others something... about you, your organization, your service or business or your delicious donuts.
Signaling is about the emotional experience of how you say what you say and what they feel when your message reaches them.
Efficiency is low sunk cost, signaling is up front cost as a sign of trustworthiness and longevity.
Organic digital marketing screams efficiency (and may signal volume over value).
Messaging is where most obsession with mission statements and your Why? and leadership seminars on mission drift and purity waste time and money (ironically, the obsession with messaging is an inefficient waste of, well, efficiency).
If you’re doing messaging without signaling, you’re confusing cost with value... and you’re going broke saving money.
