There's an old maxim in fundraising circles that givers want to solve problems with their giving - so an organization that meets needs is better to them than organizations that just have needs.
It's a version of the success vs. bottomless pit mission... is the problem solvable or is it unsolvable? If I give, what happens? Oh, the endless problem is temporarily alleviated, eased, or is it erased for someone? Eased is nice, erased is better. So, ask this of your favorite nonprofits: Do you meet needs or just have needs?
