Marketing won’t save you if you’re not a good organization.
It can cover a multitude of sins, but not all. Marketing can’t save a narcissistic organization that exists to tout its virtue. Marketing can only hide a leader’s insecurities for so long before the marketing lead is fired or acquiesces. Marketing might conceal a scarcity view of the marketplace, money and the world, but only for so long. Doing more marketing can lead to unfollows, unsubscribes, and even complaints - people who don't like you now let you know instead of just ignoring your infrequent and unremarkable marketing. And marketing a weak, how-less Why-focused mission or business will only accelerate your demise - that much faster because of better transparency. Good marketing can be dangerous - bad marketing (sales and advertising done under the title ‘marketing’) can help a bad organization hide. Comments are closed.
