No, I didn’t misspell the word... intrapreneur is someone who creates - working within to break and strengthen. (And they're more common and cooler than most entrepreneurs... let me explain.)
Entrepreneurs are the cool, new, hot tag we all own to describe our uniqueness... and escape accountability. Yes, you heard me right... true entrepreneurs are few and far between, and want to be fully funded more than anything (because fully funded = I don't have to work at funding - I get to do what I really want to do - THE great divide of marketing and operations). Pioneers who see and risk and take responsibility for ALL their mistakes are true entrepreneurs... and see marketing as part of their mission... and they are out there for all to see (and judge). But for most of us - those drunk on the delusion of entrepreneurship - we will work for others. But there’s more. We can still create and drive dangerous change that fulfills dreams of better (not just more of more). Ready to take responsibility instead of hiding behind permission or ‘just doing our jobs.’ Being an intrapreneur - working from within and seeing what needs to be broken and taking the fall for this but not giving up - is just as difficult as the risk-taking entrepreneur... but intrapreneurs embrace accountability. They’re all around us in our organizations - they may be hiding, or they may be those you shame as troublemakers or seem disrespectful toward your organization’s history, mission or metrics. They dismiss what others prize, and they ask for more than ROI. Their passion is brand and sustainability and creating a community. They’re there - do you see them? Comments are closed.
