There are four significant, recurring motives for charitable giving - frustration, anxiety, vulnerability and loneliness.
(Yes, there are more... and some may even be positive like aspiring to virtue or idealizing a better self... a better life - but even those positives spring from a perceived lack or dissatisfaction.) These are the triggers to giving - not virtue or wealth or even goodness. Frustration - Anxiety - Vulnerability - Loneliness. When we give it’s to deliver ourselves from these. Solve these problems. Change our lives. Does your ask or appeal acknowledge these triggers? It should. Comments are closed.
