This is the battle of marketing today - some win by doing their own thing but most win by giving people what they want.
Ego drives those who do what they can and expect others to love it - that, or spending a lot of Daddy and Mommy’s capital or a lot of guilt-giving for nonprofit work.
It’s easier to supply what people want - then you can play with your marketing and messaging.
Then you can do what they want doing.
But what of the visionaries who do things only they see need to be done?
Then do those things - but don’t expect people to pay you to do them.
Gandhi didn’t raise money to be Gandhi.
You don’t need others money for you to do you.
But when you ask marketers to do for you what can’t be done cheaply, don’t get all self-righteous... or expect miracles.... or blame the ignorance and indifference of the world.
You picked you - you didn’t pick what others want...
