If we try to solve everyone’s problems everywhere we will solve no one’s problems anywhere.
Promises too big to be believed won’t be believed. But bite-sized bandaids are just as much a waste of time because they don’t promise change they only perpetuate charity. The alternative to this Scylla and Charybdis is narrating the move from big to specific (always making BIG problems realistic and emotionally compelling) while giving tangible steps that aspire to become part of momentum and progress and a future. It’s as easy as admitting what’s too big to handle and what’s too small to bother with. If malnutrition is the problem, it will take more that a fish or a fishing lesson to change - it will also take a line, a hook, bait and a river with fish in it. Show that (and leave the ‘teach a man to fish’ B.S. for a leadership lecture). Comments are closed.
