The reason for everything in marketing (and life) is the value exchange of time or money or vulnerability or risk with this question at stake: Does this help you become the person you want to be?
Yep - that’s it. Well, yes and no - there’s a little bit more: Does this help you become the person you want to be - or who you think you are?? With that small addition - that’s all there is to the value exchange we call life - time, risk, appetite, ego, love, and money. If you don’t like marketing language, then go for behavioral economics. If you don’t like that, go with qualitative psychology. If you aren’t comfortable with psych, I can’t help you - you're fighting your own self-righteous fight and deserve to miss out on good things because you’d rather lose than risk understanding and growing. (I just hope other people don’t depend on you for jobs or money.) Becoming the person you want to become (or hope to be) is what’s behind the curtain - the GREAT OZ - and your test for what you offer in your business or organization or nonprofit.
