There is such a thing as bad note-taking.
Like trying to capture absolutely everything someone says in a class, meeting, or presentation. That's like highlighting every single word of a book or paper (and I've seen some like this... believe me, it's a cry for help). Why not just highlight the words you don't want to remember?! Bad note-taking ignores what we don't understand yet. But how do we know what we don't know? That's easier than you think... just add a jot or signal or ??? when you scribble down something that feels like it's important but you have no idea why it's important. Then, ask about it. Can you tell me about the significance of ______? Thanks. It works. Comments are closed.
